A
spirituality of compassion marks our ministry. It is a call not only to
compassionate service but a call to be aware of the causes of suffering in this
world. To make a difference, we are women of prayer, striving to put on the
mind of Christ and to see His face in the face of everyone just as our
Foundress, St. Marguerite d’Youville, became God’s instrument for
social change.
Where do we find the courage, the audacity to make a difference?
The presence of God in our hearts, constantly open to growth, is the source of
our inner strength. We are immersed in the Gospel, spend time alone with God,
listening and responding. God’s creative power transforms us into voices
for the underprivileged.
How can we help others to make a difference? We willingly and
joyfully share the spiritual treasure we have with others who want to be the
compassionate love of God in our broken world. We proclaim by our life that God
IS, God loves every human being and God is present in everyone and everywhere.
Marguerite’s legacy is a spirituality
of compassion, marked by confidence in God and unwavering
trust in Divine Providence. For generations of Grey Nuns
this is the spirituality that sustains us in our quest
to keep alive the authenticity of our beginnings as we
creatively respond to the unmet needs of our times.
